This past winter, a classmate and friend of mine - Morgan Barrow, wrote the words to this song as a poem. When she showed it to me it resonated with me and what I had been going through at the time, and I asked for permission to put her poem to music - and here it is. In these words is painted a picture of a sometimes painful reality that we all need to come to grips with - We all make mistakes and sometimes life throws us curves, but we have no reason to loose hope. As the lyrics say, God's amazing love will give us strength to make it through, and on top of that, God gives us each another chance "and that chance is today."

VERSE 1
In just a single moment everything can change
Things we thought were constant quickly fade away
Friendships can be severed; loved ones hurt or lost
Pride steps in, anger flares, no thought to count the cost
We don’t know how to love; it’s as if we’re keeping track
And we miss out on parts of life that we never can get back.


CHORUS
Moments pass and memories fade, but some things still hold true
Only God’s amazing love can give us strength to make it through
All the pain of regret can’t change the mistakes of yesterday
No amount of worry can make tomorrow go our way
But God gives us another chance, he gives us another chance and that chance is today.

Time has passed, words are said, and we can’t hit rewind
We grow up in a rush and leave the things that matter most behind
We miss the chance to say the things that mean so much more
Like life's unspoken “I Love You" ‘s that can’t pass death’s door.
But God lets us fall and helps us up so that we can see
That the life we have is precious and through Christ it will be free
